So what does Rockford want to be when he grows up? Three things to be exact and he tells you the order of them too…
Rockford for President
While on the plane ride Rockford stands on his seat and starts ranting, “I want to be the president of the United States but not right now, I am a little boy now, but when I’m big I’ma be a firetruck and ambulance and then I’m gonna be President of the United States. you have to be at least 35 years old to qualify to qualify to be a candidate.” Hey the boy has dreams…though I hope he doesn’t literally mean a firetruck.

Imagination with limitations
Rockford is playing with his dinosaurs and a Woody doll while Mama is folding laundry…
Rockford: “Mama the dinosaurs are gonna eat you!”
Me: (playing along) “Oh No! Woody will protect me!”
Rockford: “Mama, Woody can’t protect you, he’s just a toy.”
Ok, if he is going to incorporate me in his play he needs to lay the ground rules first.

Random rants
In New York in the hotel Rockford is adamant of using the phone to call his Nana.
Rockford: “I need to use the phone to call Nana.”
Me: “How are you going to call her, you don’t even know her phone number?”
Rockford: “Yeah I do, I just push Nana.”
So I unplug the phone and let him “pretend to” call Nana. His conversation went as follows.
“How are you?… It’s me Rockford…. Are you sitting down?… I’m in New York we fly here, but we go to California tomorrow in a plane…the plane was bumpy ride…I like seeing the planes and riding the planes…I gotta go…but, I gotta go…ok bye Nana.

Running amok
At the airport while we waiting for our ride Rockford starts getting fussy and antsy so I tell him to go run around or something. Next thing I know I look up and he is a couple of feet from me and is literally running in circles. Can’t be so literal with little ones.
