Our Trip to Lake Cuyamaca

What a beautiful nature adventure just 50 miles east of San Diego. Our boys had a blast watching the ducks, geese, coyote, and deer. Yes, there is a coyote the locals call “the shy coyote” and true to his name he saw us and ran off to hide.
My boys fed the ducks and geese, climbed trees, hiked some trails, threw rocks into the lake, and ran around up and down the pier. Who says fun family adventures have to be costly? We ate lunch at our loca In-and-Out before heading there and then had dinner at home.
When (not if, but when) we vist Lake Cuyamaca again, I’ll be sure to pack us a picnic, enjoy rowing a boat with the family, and again take in all the beauty that beckons you to come again.
We are on a mission to rediscover our city and parks nearby one family adventure at a time. Please share with us a trip you think we should take.

Our DIY Strawberry Garden
We’ve been wanting a strawberry garden for some time now so we finally decided to set out to our local Home Depot and create our own custom strawberry garden.
Every errand and trip with my kiddos is an adventure in itself. Funny, kids will always find something to amuse themselves with.
I hope you can see all the items used to create our garden. One thing not shown here is our drip system. You can water it yourself or add a drip system to ensure there is enough moister for plants. All material was purchased at Home Depot and put together by hubby.
Do you have a garden? If so, what do you think is the biggest challenge maintaining it?

My Funny Valentine
My son’s Valentine gift to parents
One of the great things about having a kid in pre-school is the sweet crafts they make for parents. Case in point my husband and my Valentine’s gift from Rockford.
Happy Birthday Lincoln and Washington
He made sure we celebrated Presidents’ Day! 2/2012
Not every kid wakes up happy and excited for Abraham Lincoln’s birthday…but this is my son Rockford and he always makes sure we recognize a great leader in our nation.
Kids making business deals
My two-year old, Rocco, walks over to where I’m at , takes me by the hand to where he and his brother, Rockford, are having breakfast. He shows me he has finished all his sausages and gestures that he wants the ones sitting on Rockford’s plate. Without saying anything, he picks up his piece of nutri-grain bar from his own plate and hands it to Rockford. Rockford, in turn, places his sausages on Rocco’s plate. And just like that, my boys learned how to barter.
I guess I was called over to supervise their transaction. Who says it’s too early to learn Business 101 at home?
In Praise of My Potty Pooper
He’s 4 and ready for more
Now that Rockford is four he has given up his sippy cup and pooping in a diaper. He was determined to do this by four. So the other night I hear…
Our Family Video Diary
A minute a day
Our life in action
Have you ever thought of how great it would be to be able to actually look back and see a couple of minutes of your childhood? Maybe sitting with your family for dinner, watching your favorite TV show/cartoon, playing with your parent, being read a book by Mom or Dad? I wish I was so lucky, but at least I can do this for my kids. Here is my challenge to you…
