If you are ever in San Diego, CA and enjoy hiking, this is one nature trail to take located in San Elijo Lagoon County Park and Ecological Reserve.
Hubby wanted to surprise the boys and me with a little nature walk and didn’t mention certain “strenuous” parts of the trail. Oh man, I think you can hear me running out of breath a couple of times (hey, I was also trying to record and talk to ya’ll).
In the end, this hiking trail was beautiful; it was surrounded with trees, a lagoon, and the magnificent boulders.
We hope to instill in our boys the desire to explore and be adventurous and curious about the world indoors and outdoors. There is so much to discover and so much to appreciate when we are open to it.
We love adventure and would any cool places you can recommend us. We are planning a trip to Yosemite Park in the spring so let us know what’s along the way!
Homeschooling Mom Fail
When you think you have it all together and your kid thinks you suck you got yourself a big fat “Mom Fail”.
One month into homeschooling and I apparently have not been doing as great as a job as I thought. Nothing ails a parent more than to see your child upset and when it’s your fault it’s even more disheartening.
Have you ever encountered this in parenting or in homeschooling? What happened and how did you handle with your child?
In 2011 I started this blog, Training Up My Boys to capture the funny, moving, and learning experiences of motherhood. But as is life, I took a detour to and paused it to go back to school and earn a Master’s.
Our Family Video Diary
A minute a day
Our life in action
Have you ever thought of how great it would be to be able to actually look back and see a couple of minutes of your childhood? Maybe sitting with your family for dinner, watching your favorite TV show/cartoon, playing with your parent, being read a book by Mom or Dad? I wish I was so lucky, but at least I can do this for my kids. Here is my challenge to you…

Only a boy named Rockford...
As we are in the borderline getting ready to cross to the United States I ask Rockford, “Rockford if the border patrol agent asks you where you were born what are you going to say?” He answers from the backseat with certainty, “In Mama’s belly!”
Special Moments Captured
A picture says a thousand words
"Here mama, a flower for you."
They say a picture says a thousand words. Well sometimes it only needs to say one…LOVE. Here is a tribute to LOVE from our family to yours.
My son hates the beach!
Helping our kids experience new things
"I want to go home!"
As a mom I always struggle with how much to push my kids to try new things, especially when they claim to “hate it” and cry at the site of it. Do I let them keep hating something so wonderful as a park or beach? Or do I try to give them a better experience of it until they appreciate it? Well here is something else Rockford and I learned at the tide pools.
