Kids are funny
…but very clever too
The way he sees it
Rockford sees a fly on my leg and gives it a swat.
Me: “Ouch!”
Rockford: “I didn’t hit you Mama, I hit the fly”
Can’t take a compliment
The other day I called Rockford to come outside and scare the cat away that always comes into our back yard. As Rockford made his way to the backyard the cat had made a run for it. Rockford was very upset that he had not scared the cat away himself. In order to console him I said to him, “You did a great job. He saw you coming and got scared and left. You did great job.” Rockford refused to accept this compliment and said, “No, I didn’t. I did a bad great job!”
Mommy hearts Rockford
A couple months ago, while I was working on our taxes, Rockford was trying to get my attention. He came to me with a book and said, “Read me this book Mama.” I asked him to read the book out loud to me (or at least the words he was able to read). He put the book in front of me and said, “Look it says Mommy loves Rockford.” Clever kid, I got the point and took a break from our taxes.
No to Cuba
The other day Rockford and Daddy where working on a world map puzzle and Rockford said he wanted to go to Cuba. Daddy explained to him how we couldn’t visit Cuba because our President said No to going there and that there was bad people there. This Memorial Day we were teaching him about honoring our fallen soldiers who had died in war. He asked, “What’s a soldier?” I replied, “they are the good guys who fight the bad guys in other countries and some of them died while in war.” Rockford replied, “Oh, in Cuba?” This was his first Memorial Day so he’s learning.
Pint-Size Patriot
Several months ago we were getting in the car and Rockford said he was hungry. Playing around I said to him to him, “Rockford tell Daddy, ‘Daddy I’m so hungry I’m like a skeleton.” He defensively replied,“No, I’n not, I’n American.”
