First Movie Experience for my son

Cars 2

Kachow! What an experience!

Couldn’t have been a better movie for his first time.
I don’t know who was more excited about seeing this movie, Rockford or us (Mommy and Daddy). He loves Cars, but we are always so excited to see him experience something new, something we think he will really enjoy. Well, the day came and what fun we all had.
We had been counting down for this day when we heard Cars 2 was coming to a theater near us and we knew Rockford would be old enough to handle it. He has always been a little “special” about noise and excitement. We took him to see “Annie” the musical and he cried saying it was too loud. When Christmas was coming Daddy and I conveyed our excitement to him and he rejected Christmas saying, “I don’t want Christmas it’s too loud!” When his birthday was coming we told him how we would be going to celebrate it in Disneyland and he denounced it saying, “I don’t want to go to Mickey’s house, it’s too loud!” Needless to say, we had our reservations about this experience too. This time Daddy sat him down and very matter of fact explained to him that he would be watching the new Cars movie on a gigantic TV screen with lots of other people in a dark room and we would be eating popcorn…no excitement added.

Going to movie theater

All week Rockford repeated exactly what Daddy had told him about this new experience and he repeated it just as Daddy had said it to him.

Got popcorn, we are ready!

Movie is about to start. Maybe he was a little apprehensive in the beginning. That is, until he saw the short Toy Story film prior to Cars 2.

What an experience

Well needless to say, the movie was fun-filled with lots of action/adventure and Rockford was so giddy towards the end that he got out of his chair and stood to watch the last minutes of the movie clapping as the credits rolled on the screen.

I loved it!

This was definitely a great family experience for us and one that went without a hitch. By the way, Rocco stayed with grandma during our movie night.
We parents are like little kids in a candy store when it comes to granting a new favorable experience for our kids. We can’t wait to share with them this great experience. I will take note of this joy and excitement when introducing  my kids the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ because that is the ultimate experience of a lifetime, to know and to walk with Christ. Every moment in parenthood can be a learning one and realizing this for me has been an eye opener and reminder of my ultimate desire for their lives.
Have a great week all!!!
