What a great day it was for my kids and me. From saluting the flag to baking goods, this day was a day learning and appreciating our country’s patriotic banner.

This year I opt to teach my kids (well at least the three-year old will grasp it) the significance behind “Flag Day”. He knows what it looks like, how we salute it and why it has 50 stars, but on Tuesday we’ll elaborate a little more because it will be a day to honor and observe “Flag Day”. Not sure yet what we will do, but here are some ideas that might interest me…and you.

As a mother of two boys I am compelled to instill in them the love, respect and admiration for the men and women who serve this great country of ours.  My older son is three and I believe he is old enough to start learning about the real reason we commemorate Memorial Day. However, I was not quite sure how I would do this so I called on the wisdom of friends. I’d like to share these ideas with you.

On Saturday I attended my church’s annual Women’s Tea where I shared a devotional with the ladies. Immediately after speaking, a point I briefly covered resonated in my mind.. the example we set for our children during these trying times. I would like to expand on that thought now.
