Mommy’s Passion for Fashion
Stay-at-home-mom/Fashionista
Dear Boys,
I wanted to write you and share with you some thoughts I’ve been having recently. I love being your mommy right at this moment because I am having so much fun with you two. Rockford, you are only three, but you never cease to amaze me with your knowledge and understanding of complex issues like Theology. Today while we were in the thrift store, I overheard you talking to Rocco saying, “Rocco, we don’t touch the clothes only Mommy does. She looks for pretty clothes then she tries them on, but we don’t touch them, but we can see them.” Then we took a couple of steps and you said to me, “Oh, look at this one Mommy. This one is pretty.” I love that you can appreciate my interest in clothes. Our trips to clothing stores with you guys is so much fun. Some days are crazier than others. Rockford you peed on the floor in a shoe store, knocked over a shoe display at a department store and Rocco you kept thinking it was a game to run as far away from mommy in a thrift store. Each trip has brought it memories, funny and learning moments.
I have always had a love and appreciation for fashion, styling, sewing, and the like. I thought I would have to give that up to be a mommy, but what I have realized is that involving you into my hobbies and passion has been so much more rewarding and fun for all of us. Whether we are shopping for items together for my fashion blog, taking fashion photos together, or making fashion house calls, mommy makes sure you are fed, having fun and even learning something. You boys make everything more fun and interesting.
Your Dad met me this way and has been amazing at not only supporting and encouraging me, but now is part of this hobby of mine. This has drawn us even closer and really allowed us to have fun together in a new arena. He takes all the pictures and films and edits the videos for my blog. Most of the work is done while you boys sleep because I try hard not to put my hobbies before you and on days we film you guys are turning your Nana’s house upside down…but she loves it.
I wanted to share this with you boys because it is my desire that you always pursue your passions and interests and never lose focus of who you are as an individual…the way God made you. I hope you one day appreciate all the talents and passions your future wives’ possess and not only support and encourage her, but partner up with her like Daddy did with me. I have learned that God gives us these talents so that we may turn right back and praise Him with them. Even when we don’t initially understand how we can do that, He will show us. Make sure you always do that with every blessing and talent He bestows on you. This is why they are given to us.
“From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.” ~Luke 12:48
I love you boys and don’t get tired of saying I am having so much fun being your Mommy–challenging at times…but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Love,
Your Mama
