My Pint-Size Patriot
Rockford the Politico
It has been truly rewarding…and entertaining to go through a Presidential Nomination process with my 3 1/2-year-old son, Rockford. He has shown his love for his country and Presidents’ since he was two. Now I see him striving to grasp how a person becomes President and what type of person makes for a good president. Get a kick out of his perspective like we, his parents have.
We are seated watching Arizona’s Presidential debate…
Me: “These guys all want to run for President of the United States for the Republican Party. Obama is running for President for the Democratic Party.”
Rockford: “But why is Obama running away?”
*****
Me: “That man there is Newt Gingrich…”
Rockford: “New? Why is he NEW?”
Me: “No, not new, Newt.”
Rockford: “He doesn’t look new, he looks like Eisenhower.”
*****
Me: “So is there a candidate that you like so far?”
Rockford: “Yes, that guy.” (He points to the moderator of debate on TV) “Because those four over there look like they are going to die.”
…Let me just explain that every time Rockford asks us about a former President they are usually already dead so perhaps he wants to ensure his next President stands the test of time, and not die on him 🙂
*****
Rockford: “Obama is old, but he’s not really old, but he’s going to get really old and die.”
*****
Perhaps not to convinced with the candidates running for President Rockford asked, “How about I run?” I followed up with, “Well you do know that you must be at least 35 years old to run for President of the United States.” I proceeded to pick his brain…
Me: “What does the President of the United States do?”
Rockford: “…they talk.”

Happy Presidents’ Day…because of him we know when Abraham Lincoln’s and George Washington’s birthday is.
Every meal is a treat for him because he gets to look at his USA Presidents‘ mat, courtesy of grandma.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
Lol…..ok, this helped me wake up this morning…lol…. yes, Rockford, we want to know too… “why is Obama running anyway????”
Driving by a gas station yesterday, Jessica says “4.23 for gas???!!!!! Why is gas so expensive??!!!!” Without hesitation I answer “Because Obama won’t still!!” Jessica: “well, it’s a good thing he’s not going to be president anymore!!” 😀
So glad to hear we helped wake you up. 🙂 Your nephew is something else. Funny how much our kids pick up from us huh? The other day Rockford said, “We don’t like Obama anymore. He’s a good person but doesn’t have good ideas.” LOL! Can’t wait for him to get involved in his school’s government.
He is adorable. He’s got my vote!
Thank you for stopping by. I’m intrigued by your blog title and will check it out. Thanks for your vote 😉
