A letter to my boys

23 Feb

A just because letter

I decided to write this letter to my sons today because I wanted them to know just how special they are.  Today we finally brought down the storage bin that contained my older son’s clothes for ages 12 -18 months. These clothes were to also be Rocco’s when he grew old enough or big enough to fit into them…that moment has come.

Rockford Loves God…but has a funny way of saying it

He Lubs Jesus

It is no surprise that our home loves the Lord Jesus Christ. We sing about and to Him, listen to radio to hear broadcasts about Him, we read His Word, we pray to Him, and my husband and I try to instill God’s principles in our children’s lives. However, what my son Rockford gets from all this can sometimes be a little interesting to hear from him as he tries to regurgitate his understanding of Jesus. I wanted to share these lovely and funny Rockford Theology-isms with you to delight with me as my son grows everyday to one day become a man after God’s heart.

So today I am laying Rockford down and he says, “I have Jesus in my heart right here”. This was awesome. He was actually pointing to his neck, but I got the point.

Treasures or Junk? You decided…

19 Feb

On any given day my son Rockford will come up to me and say, “here you go mama, this is for you.” In his hand is usually some torn leaf, smashed pine cone or stone he randomly came across while outside.  As random and as useless a dead dried up old leaf or pine cone that has carelessly been stepped on may seem, I have kept it. Let me candidly share with you how my husband, Rocky feels about this.

Techie Toddlers

15 Feb

On Valentine’s day (as luck would have it) I found myself sitting in a doctor’s waiting room filled with ill droopy-eyed children, including my 9 month-old Rocco. I thought to myself, this room is not as loud and active as it usually is.  Then I realized why, several of the kids were being distracted/entertained with a gadget of some sort, Nintendo DS, iPhone, iPod etc. One of these kids being my own 2 1/2-year-old Rockford. It got me thinking, when did our kids become so tech savvy? Is that a good or bad thing? When is technology too much for young children?

Happy 100th Anniversary to our Naval Aviation in San Diego

My husband was so looking forward to watching 100th Anniversary Parade of Flight in San Diego bay area. He got my son’s backpack all packed up with snacks, sweater (in case it got chilli), extra pair of pants (in case of an accident), and toys (should he need a little amusement). He even had a special insert that was in Friday’s Union Tribune newspaper that was done especially for the viewer’s attending event. They set off around 2pm only to be back around 3pm. “What happened?” I asked. “It ended at 2:30pm and I thought it was supposed to go until 4pm”.  All that for nothing I thought…that is, until I saw the one clip he did capture. I think this sums it up and made the trip worthwhile as they did get to see the finale of the event.  You can hear my son Rockford in the background.

Happy 100th Anniversary to our Naval Aviation in San Diego!

THANK YOU TO ALL OUR MEN AND WOMEN WHO SERVE THIS GREAT COUNTRY!
